The West Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame honors pioneers and leaders in the aviation industry who have made significant contributions to the development, advancement or promotion of aviation and have close ties to the State of West Virginia
West Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame Policy
- Persons serving on the Selection Committee may not be nominated for the West Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame during their term.
- The Governor of the State of West Virginia will be extended a standing invitation to present the awards.
- The President elect of the Airport Managers Association shall serve as the Chairperson of the Selection Committee and will coordinate the time and place for ceremonies honoring the inductees. Their names and achievements will be maintained in the West Virginia Hall of Fame permanent administrative files.
- Nominations must be received by the West Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame no later than March 15th of each year.
- It is not necessary to have a Hall of Fame inductee every year.
- A maximum of two (2) Hall of Fame honorees may be inducted each year.
- The Selection Committee meets yearly in June. All nominations must be submitted by March 15th prior to the June meeting to be considered for the next induction class. After that time, candidates will be considered the following year upon re-submission of the nomination documentation.
- Two categories of Inductees may be considered by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee as follows:
- Aviation IndustryThose individuals involved in piloting, aircraft maintenance, aircraft design or manufacture and aviation education and training.
- HonoraryThose individuals involved in aviation engineering, management and sales, and the promotion of aviation activities through financial means, etc.
- The Hall of Fame Selection Committee, at their discretion, can establish additional categories as may be dictated by future events.
