  3. The nominee may have given their life, or survived in an aviation action where they exhibited or were specifically cited for valor as a result of their actions.
  4. The nominee may be either, a native born West Virginian, a current resident of West Virginia, or one who has lived in West Virginia the majority of their life.
  5. The West Virginia Hall of Fame Selection Committee members shall only consider information submitted in the Nomination Package. No other information submitted to the Selection Committee members will be considered.

West Virginia Aviation Wall of Valor Nomination Submission Criteria

Submissions must include the following:

  1. One (1) original copy of the wall of valor inductee nomination form.
  2. One (1) original copy of the wall of valor aviation background questionnaire.
  3. One (1) copy of an introduction letter (a minimum of three (3) typewritten, double spaced pages) addressing the following areas. Photocopies of photographs should also be included.
    a. Aviation Action(s)
    b. Citation(s) – Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, etc.
  4. One (1) copy of a detailed biographical resume. Because nominees may not be familiar to the Selection Committee members, presenting a good case is important. Include documentation where available, with dates of military service, units served with, actions involved, etc. If possible, include copies of clippings, logbooks, citations and awards granted to the individual.
  5. One (1) copy of a portrait-like “head shot” of the nominee. This is very essential should the candidate become selected; therefore, failure to include this photo will disqualify a nominee from consideration. Many things such as news releases, award plaques, slide presentations, etc. generated about the candidate are beneficial. If possible, provide additional photos of the person as they are involved in their aviation activity. Pictures will be scanned and the originals will be returned to the submitter upon request.
  6. At least one (1) original letter from another party supporting the nomination.
  7. Any additional documentation deemed appropriate.
  8. All nominations must be received by March 15th of each year and sent to:
